Dear Members of the Hong Kong Society of Nephrology,

It is with great humility and honor that I assume the role of Chairman in October 2023. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the immediate past Chairman, Dr. Chow Kai Ming, as well as the previous chairmen and Council Members who have dedicated their time and efforts to the society. I would also like to extend my most sincere gratitude to Prof. Richard Yu for his unwavering support and guidance. Their collective contributions have laid down a strong foundation for our society.

The Hong Kong Society of Nephrology will continue to serve as a platform for our members, including renal doctors, nurses, and scientists, to come together, share our practices, and advance our care for patients. Collaboration and knowledge exchange are key to enhancing our understanding and improving the outcomes for those affected by renal diseases.

Education and research will remain at the forefront of our society's mission. We are committed to providing continuous education opportunities for our doctors and nurses, ensuring that they stay abreast of the latest developments in nephrology. Through promoting research, we aim to advance the practice of nephrology in Hong Kong, ultimately benefiting our patients with innovative treatment options and improved care.

Furthermore, we will actively engage in public education initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of kidney health. It is vital that we educate the public on how to protect their kidneys and guide patients in better self-care. Additionally, we will extend our support to renal rehabilitation programs, assisting patients in their journey towards recovery and improved quality of life.

The promotion of organ donation is an integral part of our society's agenda. We will work tirelessly to advocate for organ donation and raise awareness about the tremendous impact it can have on our patient’s wellbeing. By fostering a culture of organ donation, we can make a significant difference in the lives of our renal patients.

To further enhance kidney care, we will maintain strong partnerships with local and international organizations. Collaborative efforts are crucial in advancing research, sharing expertise, and improving the overall kidney health landscape in our city.

Lastly, I sincerely call upon your enthusiastic participation and support. Together, we can achieve remarkable milestones and fulfill our mission to improve the kidney health of our community. Let us unite in our commitment to excellence and compassion, as we strive to make a meaningful impact in the field of nephrology.
