Objectives of HKSNRG
1. To support local
research projects in nephrology, which can be clinical, basic scientific, psychosocial,
nursing or related to health economics.
2. To promote research culture among members of the Hong Kong Society of Nephrology.
HKSNRG Awards
HKSNRG will be awarded under three categories, namely: Clinical research, Basic science research and Nursing research. The clinical or basic science research applications will be reviewed by both external and local reviewers, and the nursing research applications will be reviewed by local reviewers only. For all clinical or basic science research projects by any full or associate members, the normal maximum award is HK$40,000 but may be up to $60,000 according to the discretion of the Council. Nursing research projects can only be applied by nursing colleagues, and the maximum award is HK$ 20,000. The administrative fee for individual institution could not be reimbursed. Equipment needed for the proposed project should be essential and basic model.
There will be six awards for the
year 2008. Among which, at least two will be designated to clinical research,
one to basic science research, and one to nursing research.
Eligibility of Applications
1. The Principal
Investigator (applicant) must be a member (full or associate) of HKSN.
2. Priority will be given to Principal Investigators who are not eligible to
apply for funding from the Research Grants Council of HKSAR.
3. Research proposal must be related to Nephrology. The field of research can
be clinical, basic scientific, psychosocial, nursing or related to health economics.
4. The Principal Investigator can hold only one HKSNRG at any one time.

consecutive years.
Other Requirements
1. Projects which involve human subjects must have approval by relevant Ethics Committee before a grant is awarded
2. Successful applicants are required to submit half yearly Progress Reports
to the Council of HKSN. Upon completion of the study, the principal investigator
is required to submit a Completion Report to the Council of HKSN.
3. The Principal Investigator is to notify the HKSN Council upon completion
of the study. In addition, he/she must submit the research findings for presentation
at the forthcoming HKSN Annual Scientific Meeting and to acknowledge the funding
support of the HKSN Research Grant in the article if the research is submitted

4. Investigators must follow the proposed time schedule of the research project.
Failure to do so without justification may jeopardize future grant applications
from the same Principal Investigator.

the Principal Investigator must notify the HKSN Council in writing to justify
the feasibility of the proposal after such changes. The eligibility of the application,
